Born in Schleswig, 1938. Economist and journalist. He has been a parliamentary state secretary at the Federal Education Ministry and for many years a member of the German Bundestag. Following initial visits to the Republic of Cyprus, he set up the "German-Cypriot Friendship Group in the German Bundestag" jointly with members of different parliamentary groups in 1992.
